Google Site Rankings Dropped. Anyone else?

Small local biz here. Been #1-3 on organic results, and map listings for the past year or so. Phone stopped ringing this week and I check my placement. Regular organic is still top 3 on most keywords. Map results have fallen off the radar. It's still showing, just page 5 or something. The strange part is I have 31 reviews on Google, and have been replaced with guys with no activity on their G+ page, and no reviews.

Did anyone else notice their stuff drop in the past week or so?

Determining what orders are tax relevant in Woocommerce

Hey, I'm wondering what the best way is to determine what number of orders are legible for tax return?

Being based in the EU our client can claim tax back on any sales made to within the EU so they are looking for the easiest way to get these numbers.

We discussed exporting to Excel and making a rule for any non EU countries, but I'm hoping there's an easier solution I can offer them.

I am not very experienced in wordpress, but I would like to buy a theme for an online business. An important part that the theme needs is a login part, that user can register and login after they did. Is it possbile to do this with a feature after I bought the theme or do I have to buy a theme where a login is already included? Thank you for your help

Speeding up a Wordpress install

Hi guys,

I'm working on putting together a guide on how to 'speed up' Wordpress, for my own personal use in future projects, and also to disseminate to the community. In my research, I couldn't really find many definitive resources on everything you can possibly look at to increase speed without compromising design and security, so I've decided to make one.

As such, I'd love to hear what you do to spool up your Wordpress sites quicker.

Some things I'm already including or researching:

• Reducing script & style clutter: working on guides and some code snippets to stop plugin's scripts and stylesheets from loading on pages they're not needed, and collating and minifying resources where possible.


• Compressing images, namely with the smush.it plugin where I've found a lot of gains can be had.


• Speeding up server response time with GZIP and site/database caching.


• Setting browser caching.

A lot of this can be done with the W3C caching plugin, but I'd like to delve a bit deeper and explore other options.

Can I include the WooCommerce dummy-data.xml file with my theme?

Hi guys,

So I'm creating a WordPress theme in which I have provided support for WooCommerce. I'm in the process of submitting it to Themeforest. Now I've used the dummy data that WooCommerce provides by importing the dummy-data.xml in my theme demo, and I'm just wondering if I can include the dummy-data.xml with my theme so that my buyers can recreate my demo.

I can't find any licensing information about this in any place and I'm not sure if I have the right to distribute the dummy-data.xml file with my theme.

Would really appreciate if someone can help me with this.

Role based shipping prices

Is it possible to change the price of free shipping based on different user roles?

I've got a wholesale group set up that I went to have a different free shipping price point than regular customers. Is it possible to do this at all?

Is it better to update an existing post or write a new one?

Help: How to stop text scaling while zooming in/out

Well the title says it all. When I zoom in or out my text gets all messy. I'm making somekind of a table so I want everyone to be able to read it correctly. I'm a newbie so I might not understand everything.

Looking for a plugin for a text box that acts like an accordion.

I'm hoping there's a plugin for this. All I need to display is text but have it change based on what you click on. I have a list of items that need to be displayed and when you click on one of the items, I want the description of that item to show up and have all of the other items from the list disappear. Then have a "Back" button of some kind to take you back to the original list. Anyone know of a plugin that does this or a way to accomplish this? Thanks in advance!

Wordpress Premium vs Bluehost?

I've been blogging for awhile now but recently I stopped my first blog completely to start a new. I was initially on blogspot.com, but moved to Wordpress because it seemed like there was an array of resources I could learn from. However, it's all very overwhelming and I'm not quite sure how everything works.

I want to customise the CSS of my Wordpress, which is, as far as I'm aware, only available via Wordpress Premium. However, will Wordpress Premium allow me to access my blog via FTP (Filezilla)? Or would I have to buy premium and go through a hosting site, e.g. Bluehost? And what's Wordpress.org? I'm not exactly sure what my best option is/what is worth my buck, could you give me some suggestions? What did you opt for?

Can someone please help me define the differences!

Plugin/method to segment visitors based on response to a poll

I've got a Wordpress blog that I use for business purposes, and I want to use my site to build an email database in a more "informed" manner.

Basically, I want to combine a poll with different landing pages, depending on response.

So visitor comes to my site and sees the poll (question would be something like "which of these do you want to learn more about? A, B or C")

Depending on their response they are taken to a landing page for A, B, or C.

Is this something that is possible to do with Wordpress?

How can I mass delete pending/un-activated users?

I have tens of thousands of spam users on my sites and I need to get rid of them. Ideally, I'd like the ability to delete users who haven't activated their account after X number of days, but I'll take anything that allows me to simply mass delete delete pending/un-activated users with one click.

ThemeForest has a pretty lousy affiliate program. They only offer commissions on the first deposit of a new customer. If a customer makes multiple transactions over time based on my referrals, I'm screwed.

I'd like to find an affiliate program that will actually reward me for generating additional business.

Advice on migrating my Wordpress from /blog to parent directory

At the moment I maintain two websites on my domain, a flash portfolio page (yep I know...) and focus my primary attention on my blog. I'm looking at changing my theme to something that presents better as a portfolio and as part of that I want to migrate the Wordpress installation to the parent directory making it the main page for when you hit alexwisephotography.net.

My question is - What's the best way to do this in terms of maintaining the existing link structure I have without affecting my back links? I don't have many but would prefer to preserve this as much as possible. Would using 301 redirects be the best way? Or alternatively how can I maintain the existing link structure without redirects?
