I decided to revamp my portfolio site recently, originally it was very simple so I just grabbed my information from a .json file on the server, worked well enough. Now I want to create a proper backend for the website since I'll be working with a lot more information. Currently I've built a API in Flask that does this pretty well, but I get the feeling it's overkill for what I need (not to mention deploying it is hell), I found Cockpit the other day, and it looks promising, while mostly PHP-focused (frontend uses AngularJS). How do you make your backends?
