Hi Developers!
So I don't develop or design at all, but I have an idea for a niche job board website. There are several competitors, but the industry I'm focusing on is not very tech-savvy and the sites are all poorly designed.
My idea is this: a simple, clean job board site with sections for the following: homepage, the job board itself, a company directory page (companies can register and they'll be listed and be able to post jobs), an employee directory page (viewable only to registered companies and they'll also be able to upload a resume). I'm not sure if these directories will have separate sub-pages for each company/employee entry, but if they do, I'm sure that will affect complexity and price.
Here are my questions:
How difficult is this to create, from a development standpoint? Are there templates that developers can borrow from similar sites?
Just ballpark guesses, but from what I've described, and if I don't try to add a ton of pages or functionality, how much would a site like this cost to develop and/or do the design?
I understand the difference between design and development, but how do I go about hiring someone to do each? Does development need to be completed before design?
Not including any interaction with users of the site, once it's up and running, how much time would this type of site take to manage each week? What exactly would managing it entail?
If you can help at all, I'd really appreciate it if you assume I have no idea about websites at all. If people mention things like python and ruby on rails, I think snakes and gems.
Thanks in advance!!!
